Story Consultant
If you would like practical, clear and insightful notes on your work-in-progress that will help you nail your story I can help.
Across 20 years’ experience in the UK media industry I've honed my editorial skills from development through to delivery, having made short films, worked in broadcast TV (MTV, BBC), curated and marketed film events, edited magazines and worked as an exec on short films and feature projects. I've read and reported on hundreds of scripts/manuscripts for companies such as Studiocanal, BFI, BBC, Channel 4 and Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures, and graduated with a distinction from the prestigious National Film and Television School (Script Development Diploma).
I'm also an award-winning author and film and TV journalist, so I understand storytelling from a publishing angle too. Although I can work with any genre, I'm particularly drawn to horror, gothic, supernatural, speculative-fiction, fantasy and sci-fi, and am passionate about climate stories and underrepresented voices (as someone from a mixed-heritage, working-class background).
How I Can Help:
I can provide constructive and thoughtful notes on short film scripts, TV pilot scripts, the opening pages of a feature or manuscript, pitch docs or query letters (for writers seeking an agent).
I will provide you with written notes (an annotated PDF or Word doc), and can offer a follow-up email, or 45-min online 1:1 to discuss.
Your booking is only confirmed once I reply to your email with details of turnaround, an agreed rate for the work and a payment request.
This service is for scripted/fiction work, not unscripted or immersive – however if you have a hybrid project I'd be happy to take a look.
I'm keen to support female-identifying individuals of colour and/or female-identifying individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds, so please enquire about discounted rates.
Any other queries please email me.
“Working with Nadia on my BFI film treatment was an absolute joy. She had expert command of the genre (in this case, horror and its many sub genres), made annoyingly good structural suggestions (being a writer herself, she knows her craft) and even encouraged me to strive for a higher body count (I mean, come on!). She’s bloody brilliant!”
— screenwriter and playwright Carl Grose
“Nadia was generous with her feedback, and with clear, practical notes and a razor-sharp attention to detail her perspective was valuable and her passion for storytelling palpable. She really believed in the potential of the script, helping me to realise it”
— writer-director Corinne Walker
“Nadia was fantastic to work with. She really knows her stuff. I worked with Nadia to develop a short film script for Ffilm Cymru and she really understood what the core of the story was. Her notes brought it out in the best way. Quite often consultants can just allude to what's not working without digging deeper to find a solution, but Nadia was full of suggestions and great ideas. Her contribution to the script was invaluable. I hope to work on many more projects with her in the future”
— writer-director Alun Rhys Morgan
“Nadia's work is consistently outstanding! I highly recommend Nadia to anyone who is looking for guidance, support, or a fresh pair of eyes on their writing”
— writer-director
“Nadia has an amazingly deft way of uncovering the best in the story you want to tell. Her notes are wonderful; focused, patient, and considerate, and led my screenplay to a place of proper clarity where the story sang out loud”
— Screenwriter and playwright Tim Atack
“Working with Nadia was a privilege and absolute joy. She understood the intention, theme and message of my script, and provided notes, feedback and suggestions that supported and bettered my story on so many levels. I cannot wait to have another script commissioned to have Nadia be part of my development team"
— writer-director Alice Rosso
“Your feedback to the groups and insights were
incredibly helpful”
— Bournemouth Film School
